2020 count me in events

Count Me Ins are group participation events hosted by Carey families. Hosts donate their time and the cost of running the event, and participating families have a super fun time hanging with other awesome people from the Carey community. All proceeds benefit the students and staff of the Carey School.

Carey Golf Scramble
Green Hills Country Club
Calling all golf enthusiasts (and non-golfers) to the 2nd Carey golf scramble! We will have a 9 hole scramble with a shotgun start at Green Hills CC followed by drinks and apps! Golfers will be paired, so that NO golf experience is necessary and the best ball wins! This event is for adults only. Let's hit the links and have some fun!

Tacos and Tequila

Tacos, tequila, and the all-star Carey parents band, UB50, make for a fabulous Saturday night! Join us for a fun-filled fiesta at the home of Jamie & Jason Kilar to catch up with Carey friends and make some new ones as we kick off the Fall season. Note: This event is for adults only.

Whiskey Wonderland

Come enjoy a masterfully curated whiskey tasting from one of the best private whiskey collections in the country. Maybe you're new to the world of whiskey, or perhaps your palette has been cultivated over years of attending Whiskey Wonderland. Regardless, all are welcome to enjoy great pours in a relaxed atmosphere! We will explore different types of whiskey through the ages and try different ways to drink it: cocktails, neat, on the rocks, etc. This event includes food pairings. For the experienced whiskey drinker we will be opening some special bottles.

Carey Goes Camping
Huddart Park, Toyon Camping Area
Pitch a tent (or get some help pitching a tent!), tell ghost stories, and gaze at the stars! Be one of the 20 families to sign up for a fun night of camping with Carey friends. The campground is reserved entirely for The Carey School. The event includes catered dinner, s'mores, and lots of outdoor fun! Coffee and breakfast is provided the next morning before breaking camp. This is an ideal camping experience for young children and the catering makes it easy on the adults. No previous camping experience is necessary. Park fee ($6) not included. Limited to 20 families.

Carey Family Square Dance

A Home Down on the Range (in Hillsborough)

Dust off your cowboy boots and mosey on over for the Carey Family Square Dance and BBQ. We’ll hoot and holler the evening away with live music, dancing, games, and a gravytrain with all the fixins. Bring your little whipper snappers to join in the hoedown under the California stars!

Carey School Sleepover

Hall of Feathers
Join the fun at the 15th Annual Carey School Sleepover! Drop off your children at school Friday evening and pick them up the next morning. Your hosts will chaperone the kids and provide dinner, fun activities, snacks, movies and breakfast. Your child should bring a sleeping bag or other bedding, a warm jacket for evening games, a flashlight, comfy sleepwear, toothbrush, and any other overnight essentials. This event is the place to be, and the experience is truly priceless.

The Great Pumpkin Decorating Party

Colaco Residence in Burlingame
Watch your little artists design spooktacular pumpkins and catch an amazing magic show while pumpkins dry. Special prizes for best-decorated pumpkins! Pumpkins and craft materials included. Dinner for kids and homemade apps and adult beverages provided at this family-friendly event! Please purchase one ticket per child.

Do your kids love sushi hand rolls and wish they could learn to make them at home? We can help! Please drop your child off (what?!? Babysitting included?!) to this fun event. Your child will learn to make hand rolls (traditional Japanese style at home) and have dinner with old/new friends! Note: This will be a gluten and nut-free event. We can also accommodate soy, egg, and dairy allergies.

Hey, Carey Kids! Ready to get your groove on? Let's boogie our winter blues away at our very own Carey Dance Party! We’ve booked the one and only DJ X to get our feet moving. Just imagine: disco lights, fog machines, and all the latest dance hits - we’ll pack the dance floor and make some memories! We’ll have glow sticks and treats to keep the party moving. An unforgettable evening! This is a kids-only event.

This is an adults-only event.

Be Mine, Valentine: A Night at the Opera Starring Marnie Breckenridge

This Valentine’s, treat yourself to an unforgettable night out. Enjoy a special operatic performance from Carey’s own Marnie Breckenridge (Loomis), in a beautiful and intimate estate setting. Marnie will perform a custom selection including famous love songs and arias, and will share an “insider’s view” into the world of opera. Marnie is a highly acclaimed soprano, traveling the globe to sing with some of the world’s most esteemed opera companies. The Chicago Tribune proclaimed that she “achiev[es] both lyrical poignancy and dramatic power,” the San Francisco Chronical describes her voice as “clear, pure singing,” while Opera Magazine deemed her “simply terrific.”
Come for the performance and stay for the treats. No Valentine’s is complete without something sweet.
